	Eclipse 12 and sand
Dempsey fan Mega Fish Posts: 915 Kudos: 201 Votes: 3 Registered: 02-Aug-2000	I have a Eclipse system 12 that I'm setting up for shelldwellers and I'm going to be adding sand as a substrate. My question is how do I prevent sand from being sucked into the filter? The eclipse has a power filter similar to a biowheel or emperor that is integrated into the top of the tank yet the intake still runs down by the substrate. What should I do?

It's also important to wash the sand very carefully to remove as many of the lighter particles as possible to prevent them from being picked up in the tank.
