I got so tired of having to clean plastic plants that i got rid of them. I find them a real pain to clean for now on all I will use is decorative rocks. Anybody else find it a pain to clean all the plastic plants.

17 years experience with freshwater.

get some sanils and some algae/waste eating fishies (corries, ottos...etc)... they should stay generally clean then...

Bleach dip and a lot of rinsing, and some more rinsing, and good to go. Now, that said, it seems that the "cheap" plastic plants seem more e to brown algae. BigAls has a great line of plants that are anchored to slate, and I have had fabulous luck with them.

go live man, go live! you have got to go live!! don't be intimidated, go live!!!

do your homework, and go live! lol

I was afraid to do live plantings... So far, other than some brown algae like what you're talking about mine are doing just great.

I started with plastics and they looked ok. but, nothing looks like live plants, like live plants do!

Yes. I have fish that don't come from planted regions.... mbuna, shellies. Sneaky

I used to consider having the plants on rotation. One set in tank, another shelved. Switch when doing water changes. None are in long enough to accumulate yuck.

Actually, will take my own advice & apply to the shells from my shellie set up.

Glad we had this chat..... *wanders off*
