I have been looking around for awhile (LFS and Internet) but have really not found anything that I like when looking for FW aquarium deco. How come there is a huge lack of decorations that are cut square on two sides so that they fit in a corner? (Sounds like I'm on a Feng Shui quest). I am really into utilizing some of the spaces that are never usually occupied by fish to much like bottom corners instaed of smaking something down in the middle where everything is most active.

My main question is to just make sure about something that I heard. Can you really put pratically anything in an aquarium as long as you coat it with epoxy? How many coats does everyone suggest if it is true? If so, can somebody suggest some brands for this type of application?

If you can make any item/items aquarium safe I would like to make some intricate type of rock-scaping using styrofoam then coating it in resin, then painting it to look like rock, then applying some sand for a little texture, and then epoxy to make it safe. Maybe then I can have my much sought after corner caves that leave the middle of the aquarium open.

I even thought I could use some of that foaming door/window insulation to help obtain some of the shapes I want applied to parts of the styrofoam. Would that also be safe as long as it is epoxied?

Does anyone have experience in this?

Sorry I can't answer anything specifically, but have a look @this thread link]http://www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/forums/thread.asp?id=38674[/link] that one of our members did....I have a feeling they were following [link=directions similar to these.

You do want to be careful what goes in the tank, don't forget that there will be a certian ammount of wear and tear. You don't want it to breakdown while in the tank .
I'm sure some others will be able to help a bit more .

^_^

COOL!!!

I still wanted to use that foaming window/door wheather stripping sealant foam to make some of the ideas I have, until I read the second link where you can just stack the styrofoam to your desired deminsions and melt it into a formation. Way cool! How come your mind will always think of the hardest way and go with it?

Now, to track down a heat gun.
