NEW ROCK TANK!! LOVE IT!! pics have now arived!! | |
fishyhelper288 Fish Guru Posts: 2161 Kudos: 1951 Votes: 137 Registered: 29-Feb-2004 | it took like 10 hours but the set up is finnally finished it looks sooooo natural, u cant see the filter, heater ect, it is full of caves, and i could barely tell it was a 10 galloni can put the pics on the computer tomorrow, but the realy dont do justice, it took liek and hour to wash and boil all 20+ rocks i have granite, conglomerate, and actually some concrete but u cant tell i am soo excited it took so long to balance the rocks just so, and i had like 5 other set ups i thought i loved but then they fell but i test it by shaking the tank just a little(dont worry, it dident hurt the seams)now all i need to do is cycle and find a fish for it although it realy looks good with out fish i mildly planted it with dwarf hair grass and another ground plant, only a few stems of the other species and a few mild clums of the hair grass, i even planted a few stems of the other plant into the rocks, it looks so natural this is DEFF going into the next aquascape contest i would hate for it to crumple and fall i wish i could show pics right this minuet but the batteries need charging ect oh, and i need a rock dwelling fish thats needs caves, and and doesnt need too much gravel space oh, and it kinda has to stay small, for its only a 10 gallon, and some of the caves are a little small, i dont even need a background -excited!! Babelfish Administrator Small Fry with Ketchup Posts: 6833 Kudos: 8324 Votes: 1570 Registered: 17-Apr-2003 | Congrats on the aquascape ...If you havent done it already I'd really suggest using a small ammount of aquarium grade silicone just to insure that it stays where you put it . As I'm sure you know concrete can raise the PH of your tank. In a 10 it'll be more than larger tanks depending on how much concrete there is. As for cave dwelling in a 10....not that many options for something that small. Multis are shell dwelling cichlids and may appreacieate the tank . fishyhelper288 Fish Guru Posts: 2161 Kudos: 1951 Votes: 137 Registered: 29-Feb-2004 | well u may have to wait till tomorrow for pics i forgot the camera at home, but i may try and see if i can get a few pics on before the computer screws up hmm shelies, its a possibility how would a parrot fish do? they only grow 4in as far as i know and he could live all alone cycling the tank right now is a blue crowntail, boy does he every love it i added a few terrestrial plants, im converting them to aquatic in a bucket, and so far they are all florishing i am so excited i sigh everytime i pass by the tank |

fishyhelper288 Fish Guru Posts: 2161 Kudos: 1951 Votes: 137 Registered: 29-Feb-2004 | well, right now in addition to curious george (a blue crowntail betta) i decided i wanted a female betta in there, i dont care about fry, so if they breed great but if they dont im not worried, there r more than enough hiding spaces for her, and seeings how george is part viel, i quessed he would be nicer, i started floating her last night before i went to bed, when i woke up to see if her stress striped were gone, well i couldent find her at all, she had let herself out and was swimming around happily with the male and she has breeding stripes, but if this does result in fry (it is a graveled bottom, but the picked a spot where there are flatish rocks on the bottom under the nest,) then i will remove them to a fry tank, but i have a carnivorius johney darter thay might take a stab at them because they are so small, but after a few days they should be safe from him, but i am reciving a poor loach that isnt loved anymore for who he is im not quite sure what species, but he is maxed out at 4in, and is a practicing guppy fry killer, and if he posses to many problems then i will see if he can go down into the 29, but that depends wether or not there are any small cory fry but pics comming soon |
