Posts: 2623 Kudos: 2462 Votes: 337 Registered: 29-Mar-2003 | Hi folks...After some time and deliberation I decided to redo my 29 gallon guppy tank...So I went ahead and did it...I used Anachris (sp?) and something else, forgot what it is, it looks like really long blades of grass and in one corner my java moss, that I still don't know what to do with...any suggestions are appreciated, except get rid of it . So here we go...Tell me what you think...Heidi Oh and Thanks Leslie for the use of your palm pilot to get the pictures...it does better than my phone...I might have to look into getting a decent digital camera with tax returns... heidi attached this image: "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." It is a 29 gallon...I can tell you that there is one pleco in there (I know he is getting to big for the tank, and needs a new home), 2 neons (had 5 at one time, then when I moved a year ago, 3 didn't make it, it was a rough move for this tank), and guppies....I can't honestly say how many are in there...a year ago I was down to 2 males and maybe 4-6 females (once again the move was awful!) Now I can't keep count, and they move to fast to let me count. I know it is overstocked, but until someone volunteers to take some, or I find another lfs I'm stuck with them...that or income tax returns come in...hmmm new tank maybe? Anyways that is the facts on the tank... Pretty much the guppies are blues and reds (maroon) Every so often an orange will show up, but even the maroon ones have a white/blue dorsal fin...at this point they are all related to each other, and some will be going to school with me on January 3rd or 4th...something new in that tank... Thanks...Heidi "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." Thomas Carlyle |

Janna Mega Fish Posts: 1386 Registered: 24-Aug-2003 | I would get rid of that fake deco in the center, and get some REAL driftwood. Your pleco would appreciate it, and it would look nicer. You could tie some java moss to it, and divide the rest amoung the rest of your tanks, perhaps? It looks a little strange in a big clump. So put the driftwood a little off-center, so it doesn't look weird. Get some more plants, perhaps some small crypts, and plant those around, etc. They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver, So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces. |

I suggest you move tthem around, try putting one in front of the tank to cover the equipment, this also ads depth to your tank, i know this is breaking the acuascapeing "rules" as for foreground, midground and background plants, i but i like the visual effect, and it looks more natural. Also mmove the java moss to the middle,it will expand tovard the edges of your tank and will look great. Guppies love to swim through plants at least mine do, so don't be afraid to "invade" some of that middle free swuiming space with plants, as said before it will add depth to it and will result in a more visualy atractive tank. |
