New stand and 29 tall+6 long setup! | |
reun Big Fish Posts: 332 Kudos: 216 Registered: 04-Nov-2005 | DISCLAIMER: the pictures are not posted in the pictures forums due to it was mainly to show off the tank layout, good or bad, and the photos are so grainy and blurry that i would get chased out of there because i didnt pull out the filtration or buy a 2,000 dollar camera to take the picture with. while suggestions are always nice, i am content with this setup and my fish love it, so dont expect advice to neccasarily be implemented. with that said, here is the load out of the tanks and the items in them: 29 Gallon Tall: M&F pair of Dwarf Sunset Gourami 1 Bolivian Ram 6 Lemon Tetra 7 Corydoras small polished rock substrate mixed with larger substrate for a more natural look. the driftwood is fake, and most of the plants are fake, so try to over look the cheesyness. 6 Gallon Long 1 Mail Crowntail Beta 1 South American Bumblebee Catfish(not the asian one, he is only and will awlays be, 2.3" it is using the same substrate as the larger tank with natural rock caves. the tank is set deep end in, so you cant see the caves from these photos, only the front formation, again, fake cheesy plants. finally, the photos:hereis a look at the two tanks in their stand from the front. here is a look at the side of the tank behind the driftwood at the small cave and slate where the fish love to play and hide. again, the tanks were set up more for the fishes enjoyment rather than what is astetically pleasing. the stand uses power strips i built in and added on timers to control power and lighting. there is a seperate 10w light fixture underneath to provide more light during the day to the 6 gallon long since most of it is hidden in the black stand. the door has a lock i added to keep my 2 year old from "feeding" the beta, not to mention my beta likes to hop in your hand and my daughter might like to "play" with him, lol. it also has a central air pump and flow controls so i can adjust the air flow to the stones in both tanks. maintanence is low, 30% water changes once a week and fresh carbon weekly in the dual filters on both tanks, at a later date i might use a custom pluming system to both tanks from a magnum 350 canister i have lying around and get rid of the two aquaclear 50 over the backs on the 29 and the two 3 gallon powerhead/carbon and sponge underwater filters on the 6. anyway, way too much info, but i am proud of the setup, so there it is, maybe at some point i can barrow my dads cam and get some good pics |

Few minor suggestions for the upper tank. It looks like an arch of driftwood behind the plants on the left If so I think it might be more effective to have it in front of the plants. And while the position of the driftwood is kinda growing on me, it also seems rather "trapped" where it is reducing the ammount of visual tank space. I'd try turning it around so it's arching towards the side of the tank but then back to the middle. Or just move the plants that are infront of it on the side to be on the side behind the wood. ^_^[hr width='20%'] |
