Is there any chance that it didn't stick appropriately on the first try? Still upset? Begin counting backwards from 20, taking a deep breath with each counting step...Still upset? Throw it all out the window, while screaming all sorts of things, that make you feel better, and begin again...:%) Oh and by the way this doesn't just work with your problem, it will work on just about anything Heidi "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." First, you have to strip ALL the old silicon out. If not, it wont make a good seal. Also, it usually takes about a day for the silicon to cure, and it is best to leave it sit in a dry space for at least two for the best cure. Also, if it is such a pain, why not just buy a new tank? 20 Gallons usually cost about $15 at most. |

Ok, like I said, it takes a while for the seal to to cure. If your problem is getting it to stay, put some stuff in there that will hold the plexi in place and let dry enough to hold it up on its own. I've done this before, and it does take some time. Again, refer back to my first post. ~Jorge |

If using silicon glue, try scuffing the bonding surfaces with fine sandpaper or steel wool. If sealing acrylics, use a bonding agent designed for plastics. Consult your local hardware store or if you're lucky, your local acrylic aquarium builder. Keep in mind that acrylic can be heated and bent or molded into various shapes then bonded together. |
