I wanted a space themed tank for ages, and I finally found all the bits I need

http://geocities.com/virtualpuggle/tanks.htm

It still needs a bit of work. The teracotta pot and plastic plant don't look very spacey, but I left them in there for the betta. I'm not quite sure what to replace them with.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated

I like it It's like some sci-fi movie...astronauts land on mysterious plant and discover life-sized fish!

If you want to keep some sort of hidey-place for the betta maybe a piece of PVC would fit the theme.

Don't they usually plant a flag when they land on the moon or wherever? Perhaps you could find one that would fit the tank, would have to be glass or plastic though.

Keep us posted, these kind of tanks are fun.

Thanks, pvc would fit in heaps better than the terracotta pot. I wanted a space shuttle big enough for the fish to hide in but I can't find one. Or maybe an alien building of some sort.

Just be careful with the CD, some of the plain clear ones have a bit of the film on them that will degrade.....otherwise I'm Loving the idea ! cant wait to see it!

With PVC pipe, you could make the booster rockets that get the space shuttle into space! And sense those rockets fall into the ocean, they would actually be the most "realistic" decoration in there! LOL.

Excellent point Beefshank !

Yep Callatya, it's the "hologrammy layer" that will break off, I just spend an hour or so on a day off cleaning my kitchen window sill that I'd decorated with a layer of dead CD's to go under the plant pots, lets just say CD's don't do well when mixed with UV and H20 ....the plain plastic spacers that are used in the bottom and top of a spindle as buffer should work fine though...some of them have the data film on them though...guess it depends on the brand.
