Tank Refurbishment | |

Here in Aus we don't have a really wide variety of rock. You got your sandstone and your river rocks. I was using river rocks previously but I found them frustrating and it is harder to stack them and they kept falling over. So I found a rock yard about 20 mins from my house. The guy imports New Zealand rock. I ended up buying 25kgs of schist. The rock does not have an effect on the water and does not alter the PH, KH etc. I got all the rock for AU$20. Here are some pictures before and after... Never add rocks on top of sand, as the fish will dig & the rocks will fall. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buzaqq/ http://www.deathbydyeing.org/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

Depending on how much digging your fish do they could cause the rocks to topple over on themselves, I'd keep an eye on it and maybe stack some rocks around the uprights to keep them from shifting down. That said....slap a background up and you've got yourself a good start . I like the contrast between the darker rocks and the lighter sand. ^_^ |
