So I worked on the tank this weekend with the sponge holders I purchased and here are the results.

I am somewhat happy and a little disappointed... I feel like I ordered the wrong plants (too tall and big), and the java moss hasn't caught on yet (patience...), but overall I think I got the effect I was looking for; the back wall is more covered, the tank is more green and most importantly the fish have more places to hide...

So what do you think?

I like it, though i think your plants need to be more viney. Have patience and they could grow in really nice. Even if they dont, you can just pop em out of the tank and tinker with them.

Hey, thanks for the reply Katie.

I agree, viney plants may have been better, unfortunately I ordered the wrong plants all together! I did plant four leaf clovers in the right one and they should spread and fill out that space around the Lily nicely, but the one on the left may end up being a problem. As it grows the leaves may block too much light for the plants below...yikes!

As you said though, I can easily pop them out an fix em right up, which only makes the idea more fun in the long run.

Thanks for your support.

Fishy,

Ive seen loose suction cups sold at craft store. Maybe silicone the cups to the driftwood?

Thanks Fishy. Yeah, I should have gone with black or natural colored gravel...lesson learned... But I have attaced java moss to holes in the front of those comtainers, so hopefully you won't even see the gravel soon.

The tank is a 39 tall.

You could easily attach suction cups to the wood, they just all have to be even so they all can attach to the glass. Good luck with that. It would look awesome I bet to have drift wood on the back wall! Post pics if you do.

Thanks Susiq!

I think you read my mind! Is there something shorter than that (< 3-4" ) though? I don't want it to cover my anabus and lilly in the front, but I do want some green ground cover.

i dont think it would totally cover the foreground... its a shoot plant so it shoots out new smaller ones that eventually get about 4 inches... they require good lighting and your tank looks good for taht
