aquarium decoration and layout? | |
mrsmonty Hobbyist Posts: 124 Kudos: 58 Votes: 33 Registered: 27-Sep-2005 | Hey there... I've had an aquarium now for about a year and a half. Up until a couple months ago, I had a 20 gallon, but now have upgraded to a sixty gallon. The fish I have are as follows: -2 serpae tetras -1 swordtail (female died a little while back) -1 platy (same with the female) -6 neon tetras -6 tiger striped danios -1 algea eater -1 pleco -17 fancy tail guppies (2 that were bought, 7 free swimming grown fry, 5 older fry in breeding net, and 3 fry 3 days old in another breeding net) -1 betta -2 red black tetras (why are they called that? they're pink) So i don't have real plants... i'm a college student and i don't want my aquarium cleaning to be too much of a hassle. I have a couple decorations to mimick corals and i have air bubbles... a bubble wall at the back, a shell that opens and closes, and an air stone placed inside a real shell. I have a heater and all the hose from the air effects are showing even though i have some plants in front. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how i can make this look a little better without the hassle or a huge expense. thank you for your help! |

Because of the size of my filter/pump, i have to put the gang valve for my air decos on the other side... i was thinking of maybe getting a background that could mix and match with my fake plants, and just putting all the plants on one side of the aquarium and work something out on the other for it to look realistic enough.... what do u guys think?? thanks!! |

Is there any chance that you could post a picture of it? [link=Here]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/General%20Freshwater/32302.html?200403032151" style="COLOR: #ff6633[/link] is a post that explains how you post pics. Otherwise, it always helps to hide the “hardware” behind the plants, but I am sure you knew that already. Maybe some wood or rock instead of tons of fake plants? Ingo |

Either get more serpae tetras say, oh 8 for a very pretty school, and beef up the neons to 10. Get rid of the "red black" tetras, i wonder if those are black phantom tetras by chance? Check on that. You will have more happy fish if you do that, and the tetras are going to show them selves in a very beautiful manner. I hope this helps 72 gallon bowfront:Tanganyikan Lake set up 75 gallon: A.
