Falstaf Fish Addict Posts: 785 Kudos: 1211 Votes: 196 Registered: 12-Feb-2004 | Hi my suggestions would be: 1- Hide all the equipment, or try to get it in neutral colors such as gray or black, the blue reactor stands out even more than the plants, and so does the heater, if possible get a submersible one and stick it horizontally in one side of the tank, it will heat better and it will almost disappear with just one plant in front of it. 2.- Nice red temple, why don't you move it to the front and make it into a midground plant, if you trim it every week or so you'll get a nice bushy effect from it and also a lot of new cuttings you can replant 3.- The elodea IMO would look better if planted in groups of 3 or more stems, and in the background. 4.- The clear colored rock with the holes / caves, has a really interesting look, have you tried it vertically? I think it would look really nice and will stand out better, maybe plant some of that red temple in one of the sides (left). 6.- I get the feeling that the Amazon sword in front of the drift wood piece, would look REALLY good behind it, and will let the smaller plant in front stand out, they are competing for attention, and in this case size does matter so little plant loses to the Amazon. 7.- Maybe since the drift wood has a U shape, it will fr 8.- I would recommend that if you are going to re arrange all the equipment to have it all in only one side of the tank, this way it will less trouble to hide it. That's it, of course these are only suggestions, it's already a good looking tank! Congratulations. |

greenfootball Fish Addict Posts: 613 Kudos: 360 Votes: 0 Registered: 23-Jul-2001 | i knew it!! the only person i can count on giving me suggestions would be falstaf thanks man whats a better way to setup reactors?? i heard if i put the tube in my filter intake, i am risking that the yeast solution gets sucked in. and may damage the filter. the drift wood is a little HUGE, and behind it pretty much nothing fits there, but i'll try my best. and certainly i will try to hide the equipments. Spray paint the co2 reactor plant, then epoxy it. If theres parts you dont want to get painted, then put tape, spray paint it, and pull it off. Epoxy will help blend it in, and when it covers the spray paint, the item will become aquarium safe. The black wouldnt be as ding dong as the color right now. |

Falstaf Fish Addict Posts: 785 Kudos: 1211 Votes: 196 Registered: 12-Feb-2004 | Welcome! I don't use reactors, I make bells very much alike the one you have I just place them below the heater and almost horizontally and I use clear plastic siphon tube and a fluval sponge filter (green) so it pretty much stays invisible. |

Falstaf Fish Addict Posts: 785 Kudos: 1211 Votes: 196 Registered: 12-Feb-2004 | This is little mock of what i mean when i say to put it in the side of the tank, and below the heater, in this tank i don't have Co2 but all the others that do are set in this way. As you can see i planted a giant vall in front of the filter, heater , so that in the front view of the tank is well hidden. greenfootball Fish Addict Posts: 613 Kudos: 360 Votes: 0 Registered: 23-Jul-2001 | hmmm i dont think i can do much about the heater, i am on budget now, after all the plant purchasing and my car problems.... anyways... so i think i will get rid of the reactor and just let it make fine bubbles, because my reactor is always full with air, so i dont think its using that much co2, or i'll come up with some other stuff later. i will move the heater, filter intake, and my co2 bubble all to one side and place them behind a lot of anacharis and vals so hope some bubbles will go up to the filter intake. and get rid of the clear tubing. if i have time this week, i will trim my red temple and do a vac, hope things will get better soon, and i'll post more pics later. thanks all [span class="edited"][Edited by 2004-07-25 22:09][/span] |
