*Sigh*....

My severums and baby clown loach had/have ich. I have been treating with half dose malachite green. Today I find only 2 of 7 clown loaches are the only ones alive.

:#(

I followed all the directions on the bottle for loaches, but was there something else that would have been better to treat the tank???

How bad was their ich? Can you determine whether it was the medicine or the actual disease that killed them?

Well it looked like only one of the clown loaches had visible signs of ich, the others...they looked fine. This is what leads me to believe it was the meds. The ich on the severums was pretty bad (it like came out of nowhere) it looked like they flopped around in a pile of salt. They are looking very good today, only a few more spots left. The other two loaches look somewhat stressed, I am thinking about pulling them out of the tank and treating the rest of the fish full strength..... I am sooo sad, they are my favorite.

Edit: Cory, what meds would you recommend?

Yeah, if you have another tank then I'd move the remaining clowns into it. I've only had to deal with ich once, and I used RidIch+ with good results.

As I understand it, baby clowns are much more susceptible to disease and therefore already have the cards stacked against them if they do get sick. I am curious about "adding boiling water" to the tank. It is never ever a good idea to change temp rapidly. What is the purpose of the boiling water? I hope your fishies are getting better.

I sure don't put boiling water in my tank, I just slowly raise the temperature over a couple of days. In my large tank, in order to get the temperature up higher I had to add an additional heater. My other fishies are starting get better, although I have not seen the other two clown loaches, I am about to go check the tank to see if they are also deceased in their caves...

I treated yoyo loaches with rid ich plus and didn't lose any fish or applesnails. Ich was gone within 5days and I treated for another 5. It hasn't shown up since.
