An excavatable substrate would be optimal as well.

Yeah, adding kuhlis shouldn't be a problem. Keep in mind though, that they like to be kept in groups. At least three kuhli loaches would be best, to accommodate the social nature of this fish.

Blues and black skirts are the only ones listed that are found in riffle areas. The others live in slow backwater, which brings me to my next point--you'll wan't heavy water circulation, too.

Oh, just about any tetras (not the largest kinds, though) would be suitable. Rummies, cardinals, lemons, black skirt tetras, blue tetras, etc. They are pretty similar in habits and water preferences, though a couple of the ones I mentioned are somewhat less hardy. Black skirts (the ones you like) are pretty tough, and are good fish. Six of them would be great.

And the lifespan of the Zebras?

If you want to go with belted barbs, you should make it a nice school of six. Like tetras, they are schooling fish, and do best in larger groups. Speaking of tetras, you could go with a school of them for the middle. I really like tetras, and they will be compatible with your other fish, behavior and water chemistry-wise.

Hi cup..and thaks for the reply.
I don't think it will be a problem..the zebras like 73-81F,and those fish i chose is almost the same, except for the harlequin rasboras.so i think i will leave those out.
my list is so far:
1)6 leopard corys or 6 ottos
2)2 zebra plecos
3)2 blue rams
4)3-4 belted barbs
and i would like to have some school of some small fish that stays top/middle?
is this stocking list good, any suggestions?
Thanks,
Robby

Many of the aforementioned species are not suitable for the 80+ farenheit zebras need to be happy--though I doubt they will be affected greatly.

If you plan ona breeding attempt, I'd just go with the ottos and zebras.

Your tank would not be crowded with just two zebras and two ottos. In fact, if you want ottos, I'd add at least four more. If you go with the cories, add at least three more to their shoal. Both ottos and cories are shoaling fish, and do best in groups. What other fish will live in this tank? If you have an idea, you can supply some numbers, and we can work out the stocking a little better.

As for the lifespan of zebra plecos, I couldn't say. I bet they live longer than five years, though.
