He lives in a 300Liter tank..but soon will be moved to a 900 liter tank.
How old can the pleco get?
And what kind of pleco is this?

That's just a good-old Gibby (Sailfin).

Most catfish are able to live over a decade, so this plec is getting some good time on its life. It may even live over two decades.

that looks like a stunted common pleco?

It only looks like it is 7" long.

Anyways, plecos like alot of catfish can live up to 24 years.

I have a 15 yr old common pleco, and 2 or 3 corys of the same age.

EDIT** i red some of the posts, and a later post says it is a gibby)

That fish is most definitely not only 7". It looks a good 16-18" at least to me...

Yes, take a look at that Convict Cichlid to the extreme bottom right of the shot. That plec makes the Convict look tiny. That gibbiceps is cruising toward 18 inches in length at a rate of knots. It might even be longer than 18 inches. Without a ruler up against the tank it's hard to tell accurately, but that is a BIG plec. And needs that 900 litre aquarium it's been promised ASAP.

EDIT: wish I could understand Norwegian. Then I could understand the comments on that board under the pic.

I very big pleco, and I would say by the size of the other fish around him that he's at least 15".

I also think that it's quite big. maybe 15/18 inches.
I also read that they live about 20 years.

I'm not sure about lifespan but these fish do get big. There is one at the Baltimore Aquarium, I've heard it's either 18" or 24", either way it's huge My pics of it aren't great, Babelfish probably has some good ones

I agree that the fish in the pic isn't 7"

How big are those Convicts in the picture with him?

Only I tried a little experiment. Assume that the Convicts are 2" juveniles, and then take one of them and measure the Plec using that as a "scale bar". If you do that, the big Gibbiceps is 20 inches. It's ten times longer than the Convicts. Which neans that the Convicts can't be fully grown, because they reach 5 inches, which would make your Gibbiceps over four feet long if they were!

Even if the Convicts are only 1½ inches long, that is still an impressive Plec.

It's not a gibbby, but it is a pterygoplicthtys sp...and it does look a bit cramped, if not stunted.
