Is there any freshwater eels that would suit well in a 25 gallon tank?

Not really...even a peacock eel should be in a 30 or bigger. Perhaps some kuhli loaches instead?

I don't know, I have a lot of sharp rocks in my tank. And not to many hiding spots. I suppose if i changed my tank around a little bit I might consider one.

spiny eels are so poorly known in the hobby...what's called a "yellow tail" by one LFS is a "zigzag" by another and who knows what else. at most places, it is hard to find more than peacock eels, and some have fire eels and tiretracks, but more than that...well, you have a good LFS. but it's still hard to pin many spiny eels down to the species level with the info on the internet or in most books.
