would it be ok if i kept a school of 6 cories ( or more) but not just six pandas. i mean if i had a school of 3 pandas and 3 bandits?? would that be ok or do i have to have a school of 6 consisting only of either pandas or bandits??? they are about the same size when full grown, and at the LFS they get along great. so would it be possible to mix-and-match, or would that be a problem??? and would the pandas breed with bandits and vice-versa?

They school by color patterns. One of my LFS guys put it this way: "cories are clic-y, they'll school by species, but at feeding time, they're all over each other." The exceptions to this are when they're aren't enough of a species to make a proper school.

I currently have 2 trilines and 1 unidentified cory (sold as agassizzi)... they school for now, but when I get more of each species, I'm sure they'll split up. Of course, my stocking levels will only allow for four of each at max... *sigh* Oh, for a bigger tank!

Kitten is correct. It's the strangest thing. I originally had 1 emerald and one pepper cory and they hung out together. Then I went to my LFS and found to julli's all alone in the tank, couldn't resist, and bought them. Then went back and got another pepper cory (he was all alone too) and 2 more emeralds. The new pepper ended up with a fungal infection and died just today, but in the tank now the pepper and julli's hang out together and the 3 emeralds are together, until dinner time, then they are all over each other! I'm getting ready to get another 20 something gallon tank and move some of them after cycling and fill out the schools. Those fish are nuts and I love them!

i will do that ; i'll get 3 of each and then when i get a bigger tank i'll buy some more friends for each group, so i'll have 2 schools of cories, or maybe more, who knows :%)
