I think the answers probably no but could 5 panda cories live in a 5 gal happily with a betta or by themselves?

Well 5 gallons can go bad from a bigger bioload really quickly...the cories don't put out alot to a bioload but it would really be pushing it, besides they would be better off in a 10 anyways so they have room to swim. So in my opinion no. Get a betta and some dwarf frogs and if the light is strong enough try using some live plants to liven it up.

It is doable, but I wouldn't risk it. As has been said, five gallons of water can go bad very quickly, leading to the deaths of the tank's residents. Cories and bettas aren't huge waste producers, this is true. However, it doesn't take much to mess up a five gallon tank. Six cories and a betta would be fine in a ten gallon tank though, if you're able to get one of those...

Well, you might be able to get away with a 5 gallon filter on a 10 gallon but on something like a 30 i think it would just be to weak. Your not gonna want to strong of a water flow in there since your betta would not appreciate it, but you do need adequate filtration with some surface agitation.

edit: i just reread this post did you mean you wanted just a betta and 6 pandas in a 30 gallon? if thats all you want then theres no reason to spend the money on a 30 gallon, a 10 would be fine with an aquaclear mini. Usually sells for around 12 bucks online.

I think a betta and 6 pandas would be fine in a 30 gallon, even with a 5 gallon filter. Of course, it depends on how strong your filter is. The betta is sure to appreciate the slow flow. But really, why the small filter? A filter wouldn't be that expensive. All you'd need would be a 150 gph one, or thereabouts.

So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

you could use the small filter now, until later on when you could save up to buy a bigger one....just keep up on the water changes and you should be ok.

Could be done, if you did 25% water changes like every 2-3 days.
