I've done everything I can to ensure maximum fertilization: extra current, shorter spawning tube, power fed. It is really quite frustrating. Any suggestions on how to up the fert rate? Even those few that were ferted became engulfed in white, stringy, fungus. |

I know that with Corydoras catfish, a slightly altered temperature can cause fish that were producing infertile eggs to churn out viable ones. It may work with Loricariids as well. |

It's just conjecture, but I think that the temp change made for a larger difference between the tank temp and the temp of the cool, wc water, which may have helped the cories. Sorry for the confusing sentence.:%) Don't know if that will work for plecos or not. Have you tried altering where the current flows in your breeding tank? Maybe have it go directly past the entrance to the spawning cave, or maybe even off the tank glass and into the cave. Oh, and have you tried mimicking the dry-to-wet season change? I did a fifty fifty with RO water two nights ago, they laid them that night, and now I'm stuck with cleaning out a pvc pipe full of rotten caviar. I'll work on the current a bit: may it was just TOO strong. |

It may well work for those L66s too. One can only experiment and see. ![]() |
