Looking at my current stocklist (signature below), would 4 Otos create an overstocked tank? I've noticed lots of algae on plants/rocks/backwall.

I say it'd be fine. Just keep an eye out for stress, watch your nitrate levels, and don't skip any water changes. Those cardinals and especially the Amanos add very little to the bioload.

Hi Molly

I do about 25% water change with gravel vac each week. My nitrate was ~20ppm last time I did a water change (last friday). All other readings for NH3 & NO2 was nominal (0ppm) and pH was 7.

If all goes well, I'll get 4 Otos next Friday.

Realistically, it's fine, but how are your gouramis getting along? If they're a bit aggressive towards one another, I'd cut that number down to a single male or such.

They're fine. At purchase, I thought (and so did the employee) I got 1 male with 2 females but it seems now that they are all showing vibrant colors. That and the fact that all three have pointed dorsal fins. I'm leaning towards that they are most likely males

However, they are doing fine together. No nipping but just occasional chargings.
