Hey everyone, just had one of my albinos die, no apparent reasons. I wouldnt' assume old age as I've only had them going on two years, although I do know they were adults when I got them.

Whats the longest anyoes had an albino Cory live for?

My albino cory (in fact, it was my first fish) lived for 6 years.

I'm sure he would have lived a lot longer, but I kept him in a little 1 gallon hex tank with two neons and a pleco for the first 2 years of his life. I was young and stupid then.

I wouldn't be surprised if they lasted 10-15 years.

7 years (and still chuggin ). Purchased when I first arrived in SD.

Perhaps the longest lived fish I've ever kept would be a trinidad pleco, which was shipped from Rochester, NY, all the way to Cali, living a grand total of 13 years.

Aeneus cories like your albinos are some of the most (if not the most) long-lived cories, and can live past twenty years. I doubt that yours were that old, though. It probably died from some unknown condition, I've had that happen to an entire shoal of cories. I know that it has happened to several other cory owners on the site as well.

10 years is a baseline life span for most Corys.

Most will live to 15 years with ease.

The oldest documented to date is from the Lambourne Corydoras book, a Bronze Cory that lived to be 34 years old.

*raises hand* ME ME ME ]

I lost an entire shoal of 6 pandas for no apparent reason. My guess was some internal parasite only affecting them, b/c nobody else died and there was no water problems...

Keep an eye on the rest of your group Babe, you don't want them to start dropping like flies.

*cough*

Maybe you should bring an updated test kit to work twin.

Well, these guys have been in the tank for who knows how long, it's a third hand (or more) tank and I don't know the actual fish history.
What I know is that I bought it used going on two years ago. When the tank was picked up it not only had seriously poor stocking but also an inch or so of white/grey fuzz on the substrate, running 2 UGF and the previous owner had never seen a gravel vac.
The corys had been in the tank since I picked it up, no new additions since the 4 goldbarbs that had been in Q-tine for about six months since coming down from fallouts shop. Parasites certianly can't last that long can they :%)!

Babel, i used to have 3 corys that were the same species. We got them all from the same bunch, same size, same age.

One died a few years ago, and the others are still alive today, and 15 years old.

It was probably just something that happened.
