I looked for a profile for an albino, but I didnt find one. Can anyone give me some good info on the albino cory? I am interested in pH, temp and adult size. They are the only kind of cories I have seen at any fish store, and I would like to get them, so I want to know more about them.

Right now I have : 3 platies (15+ platy frys)

Plan on getting: 1-2 Honey (Dwarf?) Gourami
6 albino cories
8 cardinal tetras

I have a 20g tank, with filtration for a 20 gal (may upgrade as I stock more). Will get rid of the frys (hopefully with the help of the gourami's ) My pH has been at least 7.6 (its the max on my test kit), and my temp is around 80.

Thanks in Advance

Same as the bronze cory .

Cute active, playful and impish is all that I'd add to their profile. They enjoy sand, but can do fine on small gravel. And are considered among the more hardy corys.

If I were you, I'd forget about adding the gouramis, as your stocking list looks just fine without them. Plus, they might eat your fry. Albino cories are a variation of the bronze cory, and they're essentially the same.

Awww...the gourami's are the only fish I really want...lol (I'm trying to resist getting 2, and stick with one, but I don't think I can) And I am kind of hoping they do just that, and eat my frys. (I know, sounds cruel, but..well..its natural). But now that the frys are over a month old, I am afraid they may be too big to eat. Then I have the problem of trying to figure out what to do with them. None of my lfs will take them, and I don't know of anyone who has a tank. I may give them to a school's science department, but I'm not sure of that either.

Is there a smaller cory that is readily available? 2.8 inches (as listed for bronze) is a bit bigger than I was hoping for, specially when I need to get six. But someone also said that even with those and the tetras, it wouldn't be too overstocked as they don't produce much waste. ARGGGHHH...just gotta wait for the tank to cycle. ]:|

A smaller cory which i'm sure you will like would be the Panda Cory. Pandas grow to 5cm / 2inchs and are my favourite type of cory.

I think that you're gonna be a bit overstocked.

3 Platies, 1-2 Honey (Dwarf) Gourami, 6 Albino Cories & 8 Cardinal Tetras.

I would eliminate the 3 Platies & go for 2 Gourami. What do you think?.

Well, I already have the 3 platies, as they are what I am using to cycle my tank. Now that I have had them for a while, I am kind of attached to them. They wouldn't have been my first choice (or 2nd or 3rd) but was told they were good hardy fish. So now I'm stickin with them.

If I stuck with just one dwarf gourami would that help? Also, if I could find the Panda cories, they are a bit smaller. (but havent seen any either). And are cardnial tetras smaller than neons? Or if I switched to neons would that help?

Panda corys have been said to be somewhat delicate as well as difficult (read also $$) to find. Corys do more good than harm to a tank, and would fill out the bottom nicely. If you have any plans of a larger tank in the future () you might get 3 to begin with and slowly increase the school with plans to move them to a larger tank later.

Neons have their own risks, NTD being the biggest one. I'd stick with the cardinals since they're somewhat hardier. Remember you're not going to fully stock the tank all @one, and stocking should be done from top down. Once you get to know your tank you may find that you can add all 6 albinos; especially if the filtration is upgraded, and you add some live plants.

Okay, the other question I have is the substrate. I bought the regular aquarium gravel (purple and green). And also a bag of river pebbles or something. So the gravel is typical, doesn't appear to have vastly sharp edges or anything, and the pebbles are all smooth and rounded. I know that Cories prefer sand, but since that is not what I have, and was told that was harder to maintain for a beginner, will the gravel be okay? I am also going to be adding some agates once I know they are safe for the tank. (I vinegar tested them, boiled them, now they are in a bucket of tank water, gonna check pH in a week). So the agates will be very smooth and will cover a lot of the floor that isnt already covered by fake plants and other things.

So will the gravel be okay?

I have a mix of flourite and gravel with my cories. They seem to be fine with it.
