When not stressed out, the fish is nearly black with many small, whitish-yellow spots. It's definitely not an L-182, which is what I normally see with the Common Bristlenoses. Any ideas? Put this suggestion on the "tentative ID" list until Cup_of_Lifenoodles casts his much more expert eye over it and delivers what in all probability will be a better suggestion! ![]() ![]() |

Although they can be seen in the photos, this fish does have bristles. They are also only around the mouth though (as opposed to the "nose" area), so I'm also willing to bet my fish is a female. ![]() I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

And those are just the species with photos... ![]() I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

There's too many to count and a lot of them are hard to tell apart. I have no idea how far this fish could be narrowed down. Looks nice though. |

Which one, I could not begin to tell you without checking some resource, and well, I'm too lazy. Honestly, though, there are just too many similar looking black spotted ancistrus to identify that even then, it's hard to id such a fish spot on. Although, most, especially the spotted-eyed rimmed fish are blackwater species, if that helps at all. ![]() |
