Last night I found another baby Panda!

About four hours or so after I completed the water change and the gravel vacs on both aquaria, I was getting ready for bed, and preparing to switch the lights off, when I suddenly noticed something on one of the Java Fern leaves in the nursery aquarium. It was a baby Panda! One I didn't know existed in the aquarium! And this one has apparently survived for some time, because it's nearly 8 mm long!

This time, I dug out the camera and took two photos. When I finally get around to developing the film, I'll scan the photos & show everyone

So, fingers crossed that this little guy makes it, and becomes another strapping specimen of adult Pandahood like his parents (or her parents perchance?). Hopefully the Hornwort in the nursery aquarium will go some way toward helping him stay alive

Congrats Cal! Nice surprise. Can't help being impressed with the survivability of some critters (even us) in spite of all odds... predators, syphon tubes, etc, and the little guy outwitted it all. What a thrill for you! Looking forward to the pix.

Good news - the Hornwort worked!

Big Junior: The Next Generation™ now has black eye patches, black in his dorsal fin, and is starting to develop those little black pepper dots on his body that appear before full adult colouration. Will try and get a pic of him if I can persaude him to come out of hiding

What a great bit of luck! That little guy (or gal) must be a pretty amazing specimen. Of course, now we will have to name it...

Little pandas are soooo cute

I had 2 survive and grow up in my community tank with 6 zebra Ds, 8 other corys, a bristlenose, 2 filters, and my siphon! I am amazed, especially since people say they are the most delicate cory fry!

UPDATE on Houdini Junior, the baby Panda that turned up in my main aquarium.

He's eaten his first live bloodworm. took him three minutes, but you should have seen him attack it! Won't be long before he's in there with his snout, pushing Mata Hari and Shy Di out of the way when the live food rains down!
