They will only get to around 4" max. I'm pretty sure these plecs do not eat algae, at least not much anyway. They'll need some type of sinking pellet in their diet. I have a Queen arabesque in with a few smaller Central american cichlids in a 29 gallon tank. I make sure to slightly overfeed the cichlids so the plec can eat the leftovers and my Queen arabesque seems very healthy. Maybe even too healthy...he/she is a little chunky. ![]() |

They grow to a little over three inches, and are fairly easy to care for. These plecs do best in tanks of at least fifteen gallons in size, though one would probably be okay in a ten. They will get along with angels, and with just about all other non-Loricariid fish. These little beauties are fun fish to keep, especially if you do it right. |

Anything over that is rare. - How big does the tanks need to be? I've had my girls in 10, 20 and 50 gallon tanks. Anything less than ten is highly reccomended against. - Can she live with angels? It depends. If you have full grown indivduals, I wouldn't do it. Aggressive feeders such as angelfish tend to outcompete this shy and timid catfish for food, especially during acclimation. |
