Im gettin some Bristlenose today
20 of them for $35AU, which those of you from oz would know is a good deal.

I did a water test.
Nitrate is at 100ppm, or perhaps higher
Nitrite & Ammonia are at 0ppm

just curious whether bristlenose are particularly sensitive to nitrate or not?

advice appreciated

cheers
Luke

They are...particularly in an extended situation...they may not show the effects straight away but if the nitrates stay at a high level for a long time you'll statr to find them dead with everted gills. Easy fix though, just do more water changes.

They aren't particularly sensative to nitrate, but any fish would be stressed by levels THAT high. You really need to do a large water change or something, because 100+ nitrates is way too high.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

Or if you're not good at water changes, a planted tank will be more forgiving.

I have a heavily planted tank with driftwood and my nitrates are always about 5 ppm, even with water changes only every other week.

i'll take my chances today
too late to pass up the offer

give the fish a couple days to settle in
then do a large water change.

just perform a water change before u put the bags into the tank...they can survive in a bag for 3 hrs or 12 hrs with injected oxygen

i don't know why you would want 20 BNs in a tank though lol
how often do you do water changes, and is the tank planted?

Week end - Wouldn't it be better to just to acclimatise them to the tank, and up the water changes once they are settled?
