Hi every1 *whew* what a day its been ~! dad surprised me last night by bringin up a 2ft by 1.5ft tank last ngiht with a stand and all hehehhehee...apparently he got it from one of his friends...but oh well...so went out today, bought some driftwood, plants, new power filter....got home, and started arrangin it....but alas...my happiness was not to last....before long, i heard what every aquarist dreads the most...the sound of dripping water~! yup my new tank had sprung a leak~!

oh man....so out went all that water into buckets and drains, out went the plants, filter etc.... and had to dry up that stupid tank and repair it >.< *grumbles grumbles*

but oh well, now that the plants are separated into 2 buckets, i've added in 5 cheap neons into the bucket (together with that filter) to start that nitrogen cycle, so when the tank is all done up, at least i can have a system on the get-go hahahah *talk abt cheating*

anyway, my 2nd story of the day is what i found at my lfs~! they had these cute lil cory lookalikes, and i was pretty sure weren't corys...their heads looked a lil too wide (aka i think a sign of that dual fontanel head opening that aspis have), their eyes were smaller, and they were slimmer (thus posessing all the characteristic trademarks of what makes an aspidoras), so i bought 2 of 'em as my new additions into my 'all-corydoras' tank....hahahah well at least now its an 'all-callicthyiid' tank

P: those aspis cost abt 10 singapore dollars. which i think roughly correlates to US$17...??

Congratulations on your new tank and fish purchases.

Hopefully you learned a valuable lesson that it is always best to test all tanks, even new ones for any possible leaks prior to setting up with any gravel or equipment. Also best to do in an area if possible that won't be damaged in case it does leak

If you did indeed get Aspidoras catfish, congrats! They are not easy to find, and are a true Callichthyid prize. I hope you will post pictures, so that we can slap a positive i.d. on the fish. Oh, and remember- They like to be kept in groups, so if you can, try to get at least four more of the little guys. That will make them super happy, and even more fun to keep.

Yes, but you can link to photos that are hosted online. I use Photobucket for that. It is a free place where you can host pics on the Web, and is pretty convenient.
