My BN plec seems to be thriving, I've noticed that he's starting to grow more whiskers. He already had a lot on the top of his nose but now their starting to get longer & more are growing on the sides. Just glad to see he's doing well as I rarely see him feeding, guess he does it on the night shift as I have no algae

BN feed at night & so that's why you don't see him eat. Just drop him an algae wafer before you switch off the lights & he'll be fine.

Sounds like he's doing well. I hardly see mine, either. Sometimes he comes out right before lights out, but usually he hides under a piece of wood. Do you feed him algae wafers or fresh veggies at all? Mine loves both.

Growing more whiskers? That must mean he is feeling his macho, manly, male, testosterone...*do fish have testosterone?* Glad to hear he is doing well.

I just do the wafers, but I would like to start using veggies. What & how exactly do u prepaere them? He also feed on leftover bloodworms, etc... He hides by the heater, an african root in the tank & a cave made of slate.

If youd like to see your BN more add more hiiding places.

In my peacock tank they are always out and about. However in my SA tank they only come out after dark. In some of my smaller tanks i see them dashing about most of the time.

BTW im a night person so my lighting is on my schedule so i can actually see my tanks. The lights come on at 6pm and turn off at 4 am.

I've given my BN romaine lettuce, zuchini, and peas and he's liked all of them so far. I've given them all to him raw and he seemed to enjoy them. I shell the peas first, though. Other people blanch the vegetables before putting them in. You should try it: it's a nice way to give them some variety in their diet.
