Today i found out that the BN layed some eggs. They look fertile & orange in colour, but the eggs are on the outside of the PVC pipes that they have in the tank. Is it normal to lay the eggs there?. I always read that they lay the eggs in the pipes & the male guard them.

Another think, they are on their own (both male & female BN's) & there are no other fish. All though there are some PEST snails in there too.

What shall i do?. Take the eggs out & place them in another tank & add some Anti Fungus drops or leave them as they are?.

i personally would leave them as they are... add some fungus drops (if worried) and let nature take its course...

also prepare baby foods!

yeah I would say leave them alone too. I didnt even need anti fungal meds as the father did a great job of caring for the eggs. You may be in a different predicament due to the eggs being on the outside of the pipe though. my BN did lay on the outside of the pipe too but it was on the underside of the pipe - he burrowed a little den underneath it.

you may want to put a sponge or something over the inlet of your filter though when the fry are hatched though. I pulled many out of my cannister filter before putting a sponge over the inlet.

I have a few pictures of the eggs & setup in the link below.

I left everything as it is & everything is the same as yesterday.

Nice tanks Jason. If I had a garage, thats exactly how I would use it .

I see what you mean now. they doo look a bit exposed. Is the male spending much time with the eggs? it probably is worthwhile to put in some methaline blue or something in there.

Thanks alot Troy.

Well today i saw the Albino male BN munching on the eggs, but i don't think he's eating them & the black female in the PVC pipes. Some of the eggs turned white & i am thinking that they are not Ok. This is the first time that they've spawned & if the spawninf fails, i'll re-arrange the tank & do the caves with the pottery pots & give them another try.
