Okay on last check ph was 6.2, out of the tap it's closer to 7.4 but I'm adding CO2.

I know that males normally have more bristles, how young can you tell the genders? Last time I was @the LFS I saw some that seemed like females...but wasn't quite sure. If I were to get one or the other, would it be best to go with female over male?

I have wood in the tank....it has java fern tied to it though but I think they'll be able to get what they need....

Hey Babel... I have BNs and am just starting to set up a breeding tank for them.
I keep mine around 26C and my ph is 7.6
I keep one in a 20 but it is a small female. My others are in larger tanks. They are pretty much nocturnal (sp?) but if you turn off your tank lights in the evening you can watch them. I feel mine algae wafers, shrimp pellets, cucumber etc. They need the wood to aid in digestion... one wood I don't like is mopani wood, I find it is too hard. Can't think of anything thing else.....
