As I was gravel vacuuming today, I "found" a very small Cory, so I assume that 2 of my 3 Cories have had a blessed event!

How likely is it that my cories have produced fry, and that one managed to survive? The youngster is about 1/2" long and seems to be doing fine (other than the fact that I've totally ignored it until now!).

It sounds very likely to me! Congratulations. That's pretty cool. What kind of cories do you have?

That's really cool, Wizard. I'm jealous

I watched my habrosus spawn a few weeks back and could see eggs in the java moss. However, they were gone the next morning as the other cories decided to snack on them. Then, about 10 days later, I forgot about it, moved the java moss clump during a gravel vac (it gets nasty under there), and finished up with my tank, leaving the bucket sit a good while. When I went to go spill the bucket, low and behold, a cory fry about 3mm long was in there swimming around. I gently scooped him out and put him back into the java moss clump. I have not seen him since, but it is nice to think maybe I'll get lucky one day as you did .

I have 3 cories (I think 2 are female), which the LFS labeled as "Green Cory". I think they are Bronze cories (Corydoras aeneus). I've had them for 10 months.

I had two instances of "mystery eggs" stuck on the glass, and couldn't figure out who they belonged to. Snail eggs should be above the water line, and gouramis should build bubble nests. I didn't even consider the cories! The eggs disappeared over the next 2-3 days, but obviously at least one made it all the way!

you will often hear stories of people buying 55g tanks and heavy planting. they put in a school of 10 cories or so and yrs later they upgrade in size and realise they have moved 10 cories out of the tank to the new one and notice...there is still a nice school in there. you gotta love cories lol
