Some good sized pandas (a bit longer than 1 inch) are on sale in my LFS. They are rarely available. I'm really tempted to get 8 - 10 of them.

But at this moment, the only available tank is a 75G bare bottom tank where I housed 10 young angels (about 2.5 inch body).

Can I keep the pandas in this bare bottom tank for a couple of months? After that, I'll move my 4 CL (they're getting big..) out of my 75G plant tank to make room for the pandas.

If you only have ten angels in there, it's not likely a problem. However, in reality, as I'm sure you know, THE best corydoras, nay, catfish, substrate is a fine, thin layer of sand.

Thanks cup_of_lifenoodles.
Yes, I'm aware of the benefit of having a layer fine substrate for corys & the other bottom feeders. Just want to make sure there's no long term ill effect after they stay in a bare bottom tank for a couple of months. I've got my QT all prepared. Ready to go shopping ..

None at all. My first panda spawn actually occurred in a bare bottom.

My 10 pandas in the 15 QT are doing very well. No sight of sickness. I plan to move them into the 75G bare bottom tank this weekend.

I'm a little bit concern on how to feed them though. With 10 very hungry young angels, how can I ensure the pandas get their food in a bare bottom tank?

It's been 10 days since I moved the pandas to the 75G bare bottom tank. They dont't seem to be bothered by the absence of gravel or sand at all. They certainly appreciate the tank space and make full use of it. With a group of 4 to 6 at a time, they cruise along front glass of the tank frequently. Judging by their energy level, I believe they do receive their share of food somehow. Will keep watching..
