Somewhere on the internet I read about a type of Cory called a Black Sail. Is anyone familiar with these and have the scientific name. The LFS doesn't recognize it and I can't seem to be able to relocate the page.

Thank you,

Steve

I think it's Corydoras leucomelas... Pretty common species in most areas.

Thanks for the reply. It looks the same, although the description I read gave a max size of 5 to 6 inches. I appreciate the help and will go check it out at the fish store.

That is true, no Corydoras gets to "five to six inches". I've been told that before, so you probably just read a false report.

And, I agree with Natalie. It is probably C. leucomelas, a fairly common species. It is hardy, and fun to keep. This cory is quite active, and will help clean up leftover food (like all other Corydoras). I recommend trying these fish out, they are delightful when kept in nice big shoals.

By the way, welcome to the site!

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."
