While I was in one of LFS I noticed they had gotten in some blue botias. I seriously considered buying 2 or 3, but the lady just seemed a little to eager to sale them to me and I just wasn't sure if what she was telling me about them was true. So before I go and send the money for them I was wondering if anyone had any experience keeping them and could give me some good information about them.
Also if I do decide to buy them they would be going in a 125 gal. tank.

I currently keep them. Your tank is large enough, but what is the other stock currently in it? Is it a community tank?

My experience with them has been semi-agressive. They typically eat well and are not overly e to disease. They need their hiding places and do better in tanks with dense planting/rocks/driftwood etc. They did not get along with some fish in the tank which did have to be removed. Unless you are building a community around loaches, or this fish in paticular buy a different fish.

Thanks for all the info I really appreciate it.
Well the only other fish in the tank at the moment are 7 bala sharks all about 10 inches long. After reading all of the post I think I might just steer clear of this fish. Do you think a school of clown loaches would be alright instead?

YES YES YES YES YES!! PLEASE SAVE THEM FROM THE LFS!!!!

I normally don't type in caps... But when clown loaches can be saved from the horrors of a 10g, I get giddy. Get 6-10 if you can.

Absolutely. Your tank is sounding very similar to mine. When I moved to Nebraska my 125 gallon tank was clown loaches, tetras, and bala sharks. It was pretty awesome. Lost about $600 worth of clown loaches in the move.
