Just make sure you leave some algae or buy algae waffers for him. Or you could put a piece of zuccinni in the tank but don't leave it in the tank for too long or it will soften and make the tank really really messy. You can also try some pumpkin as well. Some people blanch the veggie so that it sinks, if you don't just put a rubber band round a rock heavy enough to weight it down and bob's your uncle it will sink. |

TigerAngel![]() ![]() Fish Addict Posts: 522 Registered: 22-Feb-2004 ![]() ![]() | The other day I actually hand fed my BN. He was hiding under his bogwood when I was feeding the tank. As I was sprinkling some frozen bloodworms around his log, he came out and jumped onto my fingers and stayed and ate the worms. He has done this a couple of times now. So cool. ![]() A friend of mine yesterday gave me 19 baby BNs. I only wanted 3.:%) I tried putting them into one of my tanks, but the fishys in their thought they were lunch. ![]() Last edited by TigerAngel at 28-Apr-2005 08:31 |

More often than not he hangs out on the driftwood all day and comes out during feedings, but I will occasionally see him on the glass and poking around on the bottom. It took him about a month and a half to settle in and show himself. Before that he'd hide under the wood all day and I'd never see him. Mine loves to eat algae of course, Hikari sinking wafers, and Wardley shrimp pellets. Just give yours time and he'll get used to his new home. They are quite amusing fish. |

It tends not to be used as it decomposes under warm water at an alarming rate, and few fish will touch it. I suggest you let the little guy just feed on algae for a few weeks before attempting to supplement it's diet. It should be provided with collards, kale, spinach, and other highly nutritious greens as well as bloodworms, blackworms, and other sources of crude protein. |

It's always sleeping under it's rock instead. ![]() But i see it come out after the lights are off. |

BN are a bit shy & may take some time to settle. They will hide on the Driftwood most of the time. BN prefer low light tanks & often roam around when the lights are off. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.deathbydyeing.org/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

You must give him some time to settle & feed him sinking pellets, cucumber, zucchini & other vegetables. If possible get him a piece of Bogwood/Driftwood, as they like to munch on it & hide. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.deathbydyeing.org/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

hollywood![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fingerling Posts: 34 Kudos: 33 Votes: 24 Registered: 25-Feb-2005 ![]() ![]() | I would not worry too much between the bog wood and algee on your tank glass glass/plants 1 BN will do fine until he/she is about 3-4cm, then you will need to suplementry feed him/her with algee discs, but try distracting your silver dollars with their food first. Or purchase some algee discs and drop one in a week for him the dollars will most likely leave the algee discs alone but silver dollars i have very little to do with If you would like to know some brands od disc that I use let me know (I'm at work at present ![]() ![]() ![]() OH and PJ I know how u feel I thought I was the only one in Canberra too lol* ![]() ![]() Last edited by hollywood at 28-Apr-2005 23:56 |
