Well at the mo I have 2 pandas, who stay in the same place all day. I have put a new lamp in, and was wondering maybe its 2 bright for them.( wot could I do about this ?) They don't really move at all, all day, jus stay in the same area. I will gt more pandas, but is there anything else I could do, to make thm more active.

Any help welcome !!

What other fish are in the tank? They might be afraid of another fish as cories usually do not feel very safe unless they are in a school. It would be the best if you could go out and buy more pandas right now.

Sorry for all the questions, but what size tank is this? I do not think the gourami would really bother them, and i do not think you have to worry about too much light. I have a lot of light on my tank and my cories do not mind at all. Do you have any driftwood or live plants?

Get a couple of more Panda's & you'll see a great difference. They'll be more active & don't keep the light very bright, especially if they don't have shelter or floating plants.

Like has been said, you need more pandas They should be kept in groups of 6-10 minimum...the more you have the more active they are going to be...You also need to be sure that they have a place go when they are tired of the light...That would be my best advice is to add more Pandas, and if you can't find more pandas, try some metae, or other similar corries, as they are schooling fish and need to be in groups...Also be sure you have a decent size tank to keep them in...heidi

Obligatory article link ...

Pandas are more avowedly social than many larger Corys. 2 will feel very dejected. 4 is a minimum if you want to see some life. Get 8 and wow, watch the fireworks. I have 8 in the Panda Fun Palace™ and their reputation is now infamous among the FPilians

I have to agree with more cories

Well over a year ago I bought six and they were such a fun, active group. Unfortunately the tank had some major problems and I lost four The remaining two (M/F) were mellow for a while then became more active again.

Then not too long ago the female died, the poor male just seemed lost and wouldn't do much of anything. I finally moved him to another tank where I have 5 trilineatus, 2 bilineatus, and 2 mystery cories. Even though they're not pandas he seems to be happy with other cories and is active, curious, and playful again

I can vouch for the dramatic increase in livelyness when you move from even three to four pandas. I had three and they were sort of "eh" ... when I got four, they were zooming all over the tank. It also helps that they're now in with my motley cory group... four trilines, one agassazii, one san juan (?), one ambiacus (?) and now four pandas. I'm official lonely cory rescuer.

Kitten, if money was no object, I'd probably be a lonely Cory rescuer too ... only I'd put them all in a 6ft tank where they'd have space for more inmates. And in the process I'd probably end up with a Cory madhouse full of 60-plus Corys all performing their assorted stand up comedy acts non stop ... ann then I'd spend hours filming them so that the rest of the FPilians would burst seams laughing at their antics

There's just something about Corys, they're the Care Bears of the fish world in my view, insufferably cute, but a lot more animated than any stuffed toy could ever hope to be, and that's another part of their charm
