hi i need an algea feeder for my 15 gallon tank, the fish i already have in it are listed below.someone mentioned below my otto may have died because of salt, but i think there is little to no salt left as i changed almost my whole tank like 75% ,and do regular change for evaporation.

Does anyone think there may be some salt left in the water, and if so how do i getting rid of it?the salt never bothered my cories.

Well, back to the algea feeder, i need something to keep the algea in control, but not starve to death if there is low amounts of algea,as i dont have alot everywhere in the tank it is only on one side but there is a good amount, and it is mostly brown but some green.i think my otto probally died because it couldnt find the algea.any ideas? i would like a pleco or something but it needs to be tough to water temp as mine can get as low as 70 F on night when i run the a/c(but usually not as the heater kicks in, i should probally say it only got that low once, and i bumped it right up.) it is usually 72F-76, but can get to be 80 F-82F on hot summer days. also this is not a MUST but if it could withstand salt that would be great, but if not that is ok to as i can just take it out and not add anymore of Doc Wellfish!
PLease help.

I would say go ahead with a bn plec they should be able to do it! if you are afread of them not getting any for then give him/her some algea wafers, or zuchinni! when he getts to big i guess you could move him in the 50 with the oscar!

p.s. i would get that oscar a 75 gallon!

Don't add any salt with Corydoras & why do you use it?.

A BN will do well with Algae eating but the 15gal. tank will be too small for him in the future.

The salt can be removed by doing a normal water change, but don't add any salt to the water you put back in. The Guppies don't really require it, although livebearers usually have a higher tolerance for it, as they are sometimes exposed to brackish waters in the wild. Most Loracids are more sensitive to salt, and these fish are what are usually used to eat algae. Loracids include Otos, BNs, and Rubbermouth/nose aka Pitbull Plecos, all of which could be used for your purpose. How much salt are you adding? I would not use more than 1 teaspoon per 10 gallons; you may want to test your water to see what concentration you have. You could try an American-flag fish (Jordinella floridae, a killifish) for algae, but I would only get a couple of females, as the males can get a bit fiesty.
