Hey! I have a 55 gallon and the only bottom feeders i have are 6 cories and 2 ottos. I was wondering if a brittle nose pleco would fit? Also since im not a big fan of the bristles ( i find them freacky ) Is there any way to sex them without using the bristle method?

The bristles are basically the only way to sex them unless you want to dissect them.

All bristlenoses will have bristles around their lips. But males will also have them on their snouts and around their noses, while females will only have them around their lips.

That is the easiest way to tell.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

If you don't like bristles, don't get ancistrus sp. plecos at all. Even full grown females should have a fine ring of unbranched bristles around the mouth. Sexing is easily achieved by looking at odontodal growth. Female individuals of the ancistrid species (hypans, peckoltias, traes, etc), tend to have less of the aforementioned spikes on their pectoral fins, while males have a fuller beard of the extendeing throughout much of the body.

I have a BN with cories and ottos and they get along fine. When my BN does make an appearance (I mostly don't see him at all & maybe once a week during feeding time) during feeding time he mostly just pushes the cories aside to get at the food.

Yes, i also have a BN with alot of Corydoras, without any problems. If you don't want a Pleco with Bristles, just don't get a BN. There are plenty to choose from.
