Microglanis Iheringi commonly known as the bumblebee catfish. Let me also tell you there are a lot more catfishes that may go buy bumblebee catfish see if you can get there scientific name from your lfs.
how big do they grow? they can reach up to 6in
do they like company? THey will do fine with one fish or manyfish
will they eat small tetras? Unfortunatly im afriad it would eat your tetras as it has a very large mouth for a smaller fish.
are they south american? I think they are asain dont quote me on that though.
are they aggressive? Peaceful but predetory. Will often eat your fish at night when they are sleeping.

If you're talking about the Asian bumblebees "Pseudomystus siamensis" then theses guys get to around 20cms.
I've had 3 of them since they were babies and they're now fully grown. I've personally never had a spot of bother with them with no aggression shown toward any tank mates which include many cories and other smaller fish.
The only hint I would give to keep these guys happy is to give them their own space, like a hollow log or something similar and feed them well
They will eat most food offered including brine shrimp and bloodworm but their favourite is definately live food like meal worms and garden worms.

If you don't like fish that like to hide through the day then this may not be the fish for you, otherwise I can't say enough about these beautiful catties

since you are in oz i presume you are talking about the ones rusty has got, but if it isn't check out this
I highly doubt M. iheringi or any other Sth American BB cats such as jelly cats would be available in australia. once the BB cat is ID'd i'll answer your Q's
