There's not really much to these. They are quite similar to other plecs in that they hide out all day. They are on the cheap side compared to many plecs, though many LFSes don't seem to have them. They are not good algae eaters.

Now this butterfly pleco, does it have pectoral and pelvic fins so that it can suction on to the glass etc. IF it can its not a pleco but a loach, a hill stream loach, a good chance a Gastromyzon sp. (there are a few similar species, but that's the one I can remember at the moment). They are not algae eaters at all, but they need algae, they eat some sort of animal that live inside the algae (sorry I'm not more technical, haven't looked up the guy in a while) so if you have algae they won't get ride of it, but they will like it.

They go for ~ $8 - 10 cdn in my area.

More personally, I really like these guys, they will come out in the day, but when the main light is off they tend to explore more, they look real funny when they move sort of a zig zag with there body, and although they might look like a slow fish they can motor, they are really hard to catch in a decorated aquarium.

Overall one of my favs.

Er, yeah, my post was about Zonancistrus, just in case you were actually talking about Gastromyzon...
