If a person wanted a catfish only aquarium then no reason at all not to have one.Quite sure there are probably lots of fishkeepers with this type tank.Just make sure your tank is large enough for the catfish you are wanting to keep.

Awhile ago I had a 10 gallon with 6 Peppered Cories and 2 Ottos. To be honest, it wasn't the most entertaining tank. The Peppered Cories just sat around most of the time. If I could have done that tank over, I would have went with Pygmy Cories, since they are much more lively.

I have two tanks with cories with a BN in each. I really enjoy them and have found that if they are not real active it is usually because I have fed them more than they need.

Usually Catfish only would be something like Red Tail Catfish and Giraffe Catfish etc. All growing 2+ foot.

You could have a 55gallon (or maybe 120 ) with various Plec species, Bagridae, Raphael cats and Corys I suppose and that would be cool.

L-66, 1 starry ancistrus, several assorted cories (panda/sterbai/whatnot), african/asian glasscats/otoclinus

...is my current catfish setup

other somewhat catfish themed tanks are as follows:
L-200/rummy nose/unidentified ancistrus sp./cories (mostly panda)
cardinal/L-46/otoclinus
Royal/Nigrita Syno (doesn't really count as a catfish themed tank, as there are only two fish in it)

in transition stages with my larger tanks I've had panaque/ancistrae/baryancistrus setups with no other fish, save several congos.

I personally would love to have a tank with just South American catfish, particularly Loricariids and Callichthyids. A potential stocking list would go like this:
29 gallons
1 Ancistrus dolichopterus (the starry BN that Jon mentioned)
7 cories (whatever species happens to tickle my fancy)
7 cories (same as above)
1 queen arabesque pleco
1 zebra pleco (if I could get my hands on one)

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

OOOHHH. I'm this close to it ]:|.Tired of those #$%# C******S. 4 more to go and I'll almost be there. How does this sound for a 6' tank. Current: 6 Syno Multis, 1 Syno Angelicus, 1 Syno Brichardi, 2 BN Pl*cs. From my other tanks: 1 Royal Pl*c, 1 Albino Gibby, 1 L-264 Pl*c, and 1 Syno Eupteruptus. The almost is my wifes 2 fish, 1 Polypterus Ornatapinnis, and 1 Albino Polypterus Senegel. That would make me , but I think it would be a bit overstocked especially the bottom . Darn wheres that pond of mine?

My idea of a really FUN catfish only aquarium is 50 Pandas in a 6ft aquarium full of bogwood arches with Java Moss & Java Ferns for them to play with. If the frolics I have with 8 Pandas is anything to go by, 50 of them in the one aquarium will be like an underwater version of the computer game Lemmings

Speaking of corys, I helped set up a 500 gallon long aquarium for a chap a number of years ago...lots of plants, black background, black gravel...and the only inhabitants were a school of 400 neon tetras and a school of 350 albino corys....it was stunning.
