A single BN produces less waste than the harem of ottos the guy suggested.

Yep, a BN would be good.

The grow only a bit larger (though it depends on the species), and are excellent algae eaters, particularly the stuff on the glass.

I wouldn't count on it to eat much algae... Like everyone else said, this species is mainly a scavenger and won't make a whole lot of effort to "clean" your tank.

And what I own is actually LDA01 (or L169 I think), which is a Panaquolus species. Kinda looks like a candystripe pleco though...

They are decent algae eaters, but don't stand a chance to BNs for algae eating in a semi aggressive tanks. Keep the candy stripe though. They're beautiful plecs. Also, keeping your lights on that long is just ASKING for an algae infestation.

well tell me a way to grow some algea, in my oscar tank it grows like crazy, my light is usually on for 16 hrs a day, and it floureshes in my oscars tanks, but in the small tank along side it the algea grows but on the glass and not nearly as much of it, in the O`s tank it will not grow on the glass but instead on the gravel, i do have some ferts should i put some in?

The candy stripe pleco is L15. I agree in that most peckoltia cats are pretty fair algae eaters, though these guys are not. Planet Catfish is a good reference point, you can look for more info here

Uh, by "these guys" I'm assuming you've had hands on experience with them. Contrary to popular beleif, oeckolitas are not actually wood eaters. Instead, they spend most of there time rasping away on underwater surfaces feeding on the organic silts and films deposited on these surfaces, algae included. Often, however, they will rasp away on rough surfaces such as wood, and in the process, shave off small pieces of wood, which contributes little nutritionwise (the wood itself, at least). However, wood is softer than rock, and is thusly a better medium from which to obtain food. At work, we rarely get them in, as they bear much resemblance to the popular clown pleco, but costs almost twice as much. When we do, however, they will chew on the rock/bogwood in the tank like crazy, until the algae is nearly all gone. They are admittedly poor glass cleaners, though. They feed best when food is smeared over aquarium ornaments. While this may sound a bit gruesome, it is truly the best way to feed sifting and scraping plecs, like peckolitas, baryancistrids, and chaestomas.

taken right from the first post:

These little plecs will eat most sinking foods, and will do fine with algae wafers and sinking pellets. They will also eat the occasional vegetable, so feed something like cucumber or zucchini as a treat

If you want to contact Natalie (Cory Addict), then just send her a pm. She is on the site quite often, so she should respond fairly quickly.

EDIT: See my above post and the Planet Catfish profile for food recommendations.

I forget what peckolita species this is, but it's up there in L numbers. L 12? L13? I dunno, I'd have to check, and I'm too lazy. Most pecks are decent algae eaters, but would rather feed on fiberous veggies. They grow about 5" and would love to have a large hunk of driftwood to chew on--if not that, then at least fibery foods once a day. For more info, contact Cory Addict--I think she has one.
