They will also eat the occasional vegetable, so feed something like cucumber or zucchini as a treat. However, they are poor algae eaters. The common name for these fish is indeed the Candy Striped Pleco (Peckoltia vittata), and they are often sold in Petsmarts (I've seen them as well). They reach about four inchs, and are peaceful fish, though they can become territorial. Caring for these guys is pretty much the same as with most plecos.
