I just got some fish that were labelled 'Sailfin Cats' at the LFS. I asked if they were cory's and was told yes. The shop however had never seen them before - this was the first time they had got any.

I just checked out 'Sailfin' under the profiles and there's a Sailfin Pleco, but they do not look like the picture at all. I would say they are definitely cory in look and nature.

Now I know this is almost impossible without a picture, but if anyone can ID that'd be great. They are around an inch long and have a larger top fin than any of the other cories I own. They are sort of greyish and have very very faint spots on them (possibly Lightspot Cory - Corydoras aeneus?). They seem to have no fear and were instantly active and buzzing around the tank and ahve not stopped. They were also fairly cheap ($4.50 ea), so I can only presume they are an easy to breed on.

Any ideas?

Yeah, it sounds like juvie Brochis splendens. When they are young, they have faint spots/reticulation and a tall dorsal fin, but both of these traits disappear for the most part once the fish are adults.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.
