What do they usually run in your areas, so that I can get an idea of how much they cost. I will have to find out if anyone around here sells them too. Are they worth trying to find? I know they are one of the smaller plecos and I would really like to look into getting one for my 25 gallon tank. He won't eat any of my plants will he? Please tell me anything you guys know about these guys!!!! Thanks Bunches!!! Christina |

I don't *think* they'll eat your plants, but most people agree that they'll need driftwood. Nice looking fish. "I am a believer in punctuality, though it makes me very lonely" EV Lucas |

I have never had driftwood in a tank before I was told that it will sometimes change the parameters in the tank so I hav ekind of stayed away from them. If that is what he really needs I could find a small piece somewhere maybe? It might maybe my "Underwater Island" look a little more authentic lol. If you know anything about these guys and how hearty they are and such. I think I would really liek to ahve one. Christina |

But driftwood is necessary when keeping them. You wouldn't need a whole lot. If you collect some from outdoors, be careful--you may need to treat it in one way or another (search google for treating aquarium driftwood). I always end up buying from a LFS or online. Not all driftwoods will leak tanins, but it is nevertheless a good idea to soak any woods before putting them in your tank for a couple reasons--1. to take out tanins and 2. to get it "water logged" so that it will stay submerged more easily (especially if it is not attached to slate or something similar to that). I currently do not have a clown pleco, but will be getting one in the near future. Good luck with yours! Also, you may not want to keep more than one in the same tank. I have a 25 gallon tank and I am wonderign if it will be okay to keep one in that tank. It is basically going to be a tetra tank. I currently have 6 Von Rio Tetras and 6 Cardinals. I also hav elive plants in there. I will have to look for a good piece of driftwood in my tank so that I can get one then I guess. Christina |
