A friend of mine got 2 clown loaches for his 55 gallon tank. (note-It's not my tank, and not what I would have put in there! And he knows that.)

Anyway, one of them is acting a tad crazy at times. Is this normal for a clown loach?
I'll quote what he said to me:
"it just all of a sudden shoots around the tank like a bullet, then spins around in circles chasing its tail. then goes and flops on the top of the water, and flies down to the bottom spinning like a crashing plane and does that over and over...even swims upside down. It lasts about 5 or so minutes, and then it seems to rest and is back to acting normal again...until next time."

Well... clown loaches are known for their strange behavior, such as lying in piles together on the substrate. Your friend's clown loach is probably acting normal.(for a clown loach) Just make sure your friend monitors the situation to make sure the fish is in good health.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

i've seen mine shoot around the tank like a bullet, but that other stuff is new to me... but then again, if you have several clowns they will all act crazy all at once :%)
