I have a clown pleco, more colorful than any I have seen in pictures on the net or in fish stores..Awesome little guy! I have a question...They eat lots of wood, well he sucks on the wood alot (I think just driftwood not bogwood, which I am going to locate this weekend) and I hope he is getting his wood content, even though I don't see much torn away but he is only about 1.75 inches...Is it ok if he likes to eat alot of algea wafers and cucumbers? Should he get more carnivore food as well? He doesn't like shrimp pellets or carinvore wafers...Should the wood and vegetables supply his diet? Would like to know since he is the most colorful Clown Pleco I have seen!

Your pleco doesn't really need the carnivore food, as they are not carnivores in the wild. Also, the fact that he does not like those particular foods is another reason not to feed them to him. He should be getting his wood and algae from the resources in the tank, so don't worry there if you think he has everything he needs. Algae wafers and cucumbers are good foods to feed him, and catfish need supplementary food anyways. They can't get everything they need to eat just from algae and wood. Good luck with your new pleco!

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."
