I have a 55 gallon tank with an adult female Bristlenose Pleco in there. The other fish include two Angelfish (breed on occasion), four Boesmani Rainbowfish, 11 Rummynose Tetras and 3 Bronze Corys. The tank is well filtered with a fluval 404 at one end and an aquaclear 300 at the other. Each end of the tank has two medium to large pieces of driftwood.

I am considering buying a clown pleco to add to the community. The Bristlenose didn't like the idea when i got a small male Bristlenose last year and i had to take him back after a month. In your opinion do you think a Clown Pleco and a Bristlenose would be compatible?

Cheers.

Hmm, I have a planted 90 with whacks of driftwood, numerous young BN (~3", one large (possibly starlight BN) and two male clown plecs.

The only time I seem to see any real sparring is when the two clown plecs find themselves under the same log and then its very short lived - they do a little body slap (or shuffle) then go separate ways.

I've had problems adding another pleco to a tank with an established bristlenose male. I bought a L-128 which was larger than my BN and plopped it into a twenty-nine gallon tank. They occupied different caves, but would occasionally visit each others' haunts and pick fights. The bristlenose was the more willing combatant, and he always won. I eventually decided that the L-128 would be better off away from the other plec, and removed it.

You may be able to get away with a new pleco, but just be prepared for trouble.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

Yeah what i thought sirbooks. I doubt i will get a Clown Pleco for the tank anyhow. Too expensive to trust my parents with and there might be troubles.

Just good to know for the future anyway. Thanks guys.
