i just got a 12inch common pleco and i noticed long white pieces of string floating around. so is this his waste?

yes most likely as mine sometime swiims the tank goes around a plant and back down the other side of the tank to him that is the only way i find him when he is hiding.

I have to agree with cichlid, it's his "poops" as my favorite 4 yr old would say...and yes they seem to have an extreme amount of it...:%)

They tend to have big "poo strings".... it always seems that they poo more than they eat

I agree with victim in that it shouldn't be white. More of a dark brown due to its herbivourous diet.

ive never seen white poop in my tank, some are red(color of my flakes, brown, black, dark green...) unless you are feeding them white stuff, i doubt thats a normal sign either.

i just got rid of my 6 inch pleco because its poop was getting as thick as ramen nodles, and they are all in this one corner, it looks so disgusting.

makesure you get rid of them when you do water change, vacuum.
