It can vary a lot, depending on the species. I've seen cories selling for as little as $1.88 (corydoras aeneus 'albino'), and ones that sold for $15.99 (corydoras sterbai). It also depends on the store. For most of the more common ones, the price ranges from between $2.50 to about $7.00. Still though, it can vary a lot. Is there a specific one you're interested in?

Then bronze cories (corydoras aeneus) are probably the ones you want. They are very common, quite cheap, and pretty hardy to boot. Just keep in mind, if you want these fish, you should buy at least six of them. They are shoaling fish, and do best in groups of six or more.

I've seen cories anywhere from 3 for $5.00 ($1.67) (Bronze cories) up to $20.00 (sterbais).

My store sells C. pygmaeus for 99 cents (and with my discount they are only 66 cents), so I would have to say that's the cheapest I've seen corys go for.

What part of the US are you in?

Most PetCos in the DC metro area sell albino aeneus cories for $1.99 usually, but often have sales and drop the price by a dollar.

dang you guys are lucky, i never come upon prices like those, the only types of fishes that are cheap are feeder golfish that go for 10 cents each. i must be blind or am just not looking hard enough.

i live in renton washington, i got a couple of lfs around where i live, i have 2 corner stores, petco, petsmart, walmart, and fish gallery and pets. my favorite would be fish gallery and pets. but there arnt that many sales that im aware of. if anyone lives where i live let me know.

btw is the corydoras sterbai a peppered cory, if not what other names does it go by.

The common name for Corydoras sterbai is Sterba's cory, but I guarantee you're going to see the scientific name listed instead.

The peppered cory is Corydoras palateus.

um a sterbai cory is not a peppered cory. and the common names for the sterbai cory is the sterbai's or sterba's cory. LFSs probably make up their own names as well though..
anyway check out a sterbai cory]http://www.scotcat.com/factsheets/corydoras_sterbai.html[/link] then compare it to a [link=peppered cory

And as a footnote to the above, if you *ever* manage to get a sterbai for the price of a Peppered, then you will have got yourself the bargain of the century ... sterbai isn't the most expensive I've seen here (although for a long time it was - it's now been superseded by duplicareus, which has taken off in a big way among the UK catfish fans, at least those in my area), but it's still pricey. I'd expect to see them going for around £15 each (call it $25 US). Pandas are still £8 each in many places, and the likes of guapore I've seen going for £10.

Mind you, given that sterbai has bright orange pectorals, I don't think anyone with a minimum of ten functioning brain cells will mistake it for a Peppered - certainly not a dealer!
